Ignorance is Bliss!!!
So we have all heard the statement Ignorance is Bliss!!!
I was at work today, for those who don't know or forgot I work at the DFW Airport, and I was sitting in the office. All of a sudden I heard a police siren. Well the Curious George in me got up and took a look. Outside my office was 5 police cars and 2 fire trucks and the foam truck. The foam truck never comes out unless there is a major emergency.
So I was starting to think, man I feeling sick maybe I need to go home (joke). Back to the story, all the emergency vehicles are next to my office trying to get out of a security gate, but the gate is broken. Even in the future, nothing works!! Well a police officer gets out of his car and ask me to stand at the gate and make sure no cars enter once they leave. He says that he is having a guy come out to fix it. I said sure, then realized the gate was down why do I need to stand in front of it. Then I got my answer the police cruiser backed up and drove through and broke off the arm. Why do i always ask stupid questions?
Well, I sat around the gate for a few minutes and then I delegated my task down to someone below me, thanks Twin Arrows! Well, Curious George came out again and said lets go see what is happening. So I get in the company car and drive to the south entry gate and the police have the whole area blocked off around one car. Unfortunately I could not stop and see what was going on so I decided to go up to the terminals and make sure everything was going smooth over there.
I pull into one hour parking at Terminal C and I notice that customs officer and their K-9 counterparts were walking up and down the parking garage. This is were ignorance is bliss for the traveling public. Custom Officers don't check vehicles at the airport unless we are under Level Red alert. Poor traveling public they are walking around like any other day without a worry in the world.
I decided that was not the place to be so I went back to office. I got there and I relieved the guy I put in charge of sitting in front of the gate (great for payroll hours, he was real productive). So after a total of 2 hours after the police cruiser broke the gate the officer returned and said he would for the repair man. Again Curious George come out, man I got to but that monkey on a leash. So I asked what happened. He said TSA identified a guy on the terrorist watch list. When the Police Officers showed up he ran. He got in a car and drove to the south entry gate. They stopped his car at the gate and then the suspect said there was bomb in the car. This is where the foam truck came in. The foam truck sprayed down the car and everything around it, before the bomb squad checked it out. The customs officers, up at the terminal, were using their dogs to see if there were any bombs in the vehicles. Turns out there was no bomb and the guy was arrested, the Airport was returned to a Level Yellow.
Well since the incident took place away from the airplanes, air traffic was not disrupted, which means the traveling public had no idea what just happened, and again I repeat:
Ignorance is Bliss!!!!

No kidding. We're getting ready to fly out of here in a few days and I'm really glad I don't know half of what goes on around the airports.
Oh - and great Spaceballs reference in your post. Anyone else catch that?
BTW - they have an anniversary DVD of Spaceballs out. Anyone seen it? If so, are the extras worth buying it?

I caught the reference to bro. I love it.
That is the kind of post I am talking about "E." That is awesome! My favorite part is that the cop asked you to guard the gate because it was broken....but he asked you before he proceeded to break it! That's AWESOME!!! Anyway, catch ya later.
